CALIBRATION

Precision Ball & Ball Gauge Calibration Services

In order to establish, and maintain, the operational integrity of all inspection gauges, it is essential that they are first calibrated and then re-calibrated at regular intervals, depending on use.

TN UK has its own Calibration Laboratory, with UKAS Accreditation in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025.

Our Calibration Services offer the following:

  • Precision Master Balls
  • Ball Gauges
  • Reference/Tooling Balls
  • Datum Spheres/CMM Reference Spheres

TN UK operates a register of all orders, which enables a recall system to be operated. A letter can be sent to you annually to inform you that an item may be due for re-calibration in order to meet your Quality Assurance requirements.

Certificates of Calibration issued by UKAS accredited laboratories provide a level of confidence, which is authenticated in two ways.

Firstly, through Traceability of Measurement, which is a hierarchical system having direct links to the National Standards maintained by the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), and subsequently to International Standards.

Secondly, through Uncertainty of Measurement, a system of quantifying the measured systems, which can subsequently be taken into account to increase measuring accuracy.

In addition to our rigorous inspection and calibration of newly manufactured Spherical Gauges, Reference/Tooling Balls, CMM Reference Balls and Master Ball Sets, we provide a full re-calibration service for our customers to enable their working gauges to continue to function to the highest degree of accuracy for the longest possible time.

UKAS Accreditation

The United Kingdom Accreditation Service Calibration approval is granted to laboratories that can demonstrate their commitment and ability to meet the stringent UKAS requirements as laid down in ISO/IEC 17025.

The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) is responsible for assessing and accrediting the competence of laboratories to perform objective calibrations and tests in accordance with the aforementioned Standard. UKAS was formed in 1995 by the merger of the former National Measurement Accreditation Service (NAMAS) and the National Accreditation Council for Certification Bodies (NACCB). The service is administered by the UKAS Executive.

UKAS accredited laboratories are assessed annually (independently) to ensure that they comply with the stringent UKAS criteria that are in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025, including those in the model described in BS EN ISO 9000 series. When acting as suppliers producing calibration results, this assessment includes an audit of the laboratory's quality system, its staff, equipment and records.
