Ball Transfer Units

Spheric-Trafalgar BTU's are based on the principle of a larger ball circulating on a bed of smaller balls which reduces friction and results in a smoother movement.

In their construction, the bodies may be machined from rod, pressed from sheet or moulded from plastic. The materials used may be stainless steel 304, 440 0r 420, through hardened chrome steel 52100, case hardened mild steel or plastic. Sometimes plated if required. All top cover surfaces are corrosion resisting, made from stainless steel, plated bright metal or plastic.

Specials are also available.

The physical design of the units usually incorporate:

  • The cover at an angle to reduce damage to the major ball.
  • Drain holes in the base to allow foreign matter to run out.
  • Felt seals to reduce the intake of dirt and other foreign mater into the rolling element.
