Spheric-Trafalgar Tungsten Carbide Reference Balls are spark-eroded to accommodate a 0.5mm diameter stainless steel nyloncoated wire to which is attached an ID tag showing nominal size and a serial number. The tag provides a unique means of identifying the ball, increasingly a requirement of quality and calibration systems, with minimal effect on the usability of the ball.
